I called last week to tell her my friend was interested in renting my apartment after I move out at the end of this month, and she told me it was already rented, plus a bunch of other things I couldn’t understand.

The next day, my boyfriend came down from Germany to visit (he is the reason I am in Europe). We were in bed talking about our vacation plans, when a key turned in the door. It was the landlord, along with the new tenant, who came to look at the apartment. Apparently, I missed that bit of information in our conversation the previous day!
